…Attempted Coup
Many Sierra Leoneans including security experts and analysts are still wondering how come the alleged coup plotters break into the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces armory at Wilberforce Barracks one of the most secured and safest places in the military on Sunday 26th November 2023 and looted arms and animations and the Pademba Road Central Correctional Center where over one thousand eighty hundred inmates were allegedly set free and with the intent to unseat the democratically elected government of President Bio.
Many believed that, the Office of National Security (ONS) and the Central Security Intelligence Unit both institutions positioned to play the critical role of coordinating national security and intelligence for the safety and security of the State has failed to live up to their expectation hereby exposing the security and the wellbeing of the State and that of the President.
The 30th April 2020 jail break and August 10th 2022 protest have all came under the spot light that the Office of National Security (ONS) and the Central Security Intelligence Unit have been reneged on their work and its leadership need to be fully brought to book by President Bio as their actions clearly indicated a clear betrayal of the President’s trust and confidence for their failure to effectively coordinate the national security and intelligence architecture with the aim of creating the enabling environment for sustainable national development, poverty reduction and conflict prevention of the State in accordance with their mandate.
